citizenship.jpgWe would like to bring to your attention two new books that we have edited for the Routledge Research in Education Series of the Routledge Taylor & Francis Group. The first was researched in conjunction with the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute and is entitled; Citizenship, Education, and Social Conflict: Israeli Political Education in Global Perspective  edited by Hanan Alexander, Halleli Pinson, and Yossi Yonah. The second volume is entitled; Commitment, Character, and Citizenship: Religious Schooling in Liberal Democracy, and is edited by Professor Hanan Alexander and Dr. Ayman Agbaria.

The proceedings of Center for Jewish Education conferences have been published by leading academic journals and publishing houses in Israel and abroad, as have the Center's various research projects.

Since 2005, negotiations have been underway between the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, representing the Center, and with Routledge Publishing Co. on the emergence of a book that will address the challenges of citizenship education in an age of globalization and particularly in the context of conflict-ridden societies.

In 2004, Sussex Academic Press published “Spirituality and Ethics in Education” edited by Hanan Alexander and with contributions from renown scholars in the field.  The chapters in this volume were selected from among the presentations of the Center's 2001 conference: "The Second International Conference on Children's Spirituality".
